Board Members Roles & Responsibilities
President
- Leads the club by promoting excellence.
- Presides over club meetings.
- Chairs Executive Committee and conducts club business.
- Uses the Distinguished Club Program/Club Success Plan as a management tool.
- Attends training sessions and participates at District Council meetings.
- Prepares and submits semi-annual reports.
- Exercises vote at Regional Conference and International Convention, or
tenders proxy to district.
- Attends the Area & District Council Meetings.
- Prepares successor for office.
Immediate Past President
- Oversees the Club's Mentoring Program.
- Chairs the Nominating Committee.
- Helps with the Distinguished Club Program/Club Success Plan.
- Promotes the club's efforts to become a Distinguished Club.
- Provides guidance and serves as a resource to Club officers and members.
Founder
One of our ounding fathers, Greg Kraeer, is considered a distinguished and essential member of the Board -- even when he does not occupy an official office. The Club relies on him to provide guidance and serve as a resource to Club officers and members.
Vice President of Membership
- Builds club membership.
- Increases member satisfaction.
- Prepares the Semiannual Membership Report.
- Chairs the Membership Committee.
- Attends and participates in Executive Committee meetings.
Vice President of Education
- Plans the Club's meeting schedule.
- Promotes the Toastmasters educational program to club members.
- Orients new members to the Toastmasters program and to the club.
- Makes sure all members understand the importance of excellent evaluations and know how to evaluate.
- Encourages members to participate in Toastmasters activities and programs.
- Administers speech contests.
- Presides in the absence of the President.
Vice President of Public Relations
- Plans a publicity relations program.
- Prepares publicity materials.
- Maintains the web site (unless delegated to a webmaster).
- Attends and participates in Executive Committee meetings.
Secretary
- Records and reads meeting minutes.
- Attends and participates in Executive Committee meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Treasurer
- Monitors club expenditures.
- Provides the bank with a new signature card as necessary.
- Notifies club members in writing of dues payable.
- Collects payable dues and fees.
- Issues checks to World Headquarters for semiannual membership dues/New Member Fees.
- Pays all bills promptly.
- Keeps complete and accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Presents a verbal and written financial report monthly.
- Responds to Internal Revenue Service or other government agency inquiries.
Sergeant-at-Arms
- Arranges room and equipment for each meeting.
- Greets all guests and members at each meeting.
- Arranges for food service when necessary.
- Maintain all club equipment and materials.
- Attends and participates in Executive Committee meetings.
